Help-My Husband Uses Derogatory Words On My Family Every Time There Is An Issue

Sometimes in life we are fooled into thinking that some people live life like kings and queens. We assume too quickly that because they wear fancy clothes, ride beautiful cars, and live in beautiful mansions; then all is well with them. This is far from being true especially with what I am going through at the moment.

I married my husband in a perfectly normal way. What I mean is that neither of us was forced on each other. Our wedding was done in agreement, and it was not like someone forced us to marry the way and day we did.

The way things have turned out between the two of us have shown that behind those flashy clothes, beautiful houses, and expensive cars are tears and regrets. I always knew my husband to be the type who could say whatever he likes in public no matter who is offended. He doesn’t seem to care whether you are hurt or not. I knew all these but went ahead to marry him because we dated and courted for 4 years and he never used any derogatory word on me. He respected my views, and always treated me like a queen wherever we went.

I used to say to people anytime Andrew becomes rude to anyone that “shoe get size.” It simply means that I am not the type Andrew could treat or talk to the way he likes; but little did I know that he was only bidding his time.

Things started changing a few weeks to our first wedding anniversary when all I did was to ask him how we were going to celebrate it. He reacted angrily, and called me a parasite who doesn’t know how to do anything positive in life. I was shocked and had to respond sharply because I wanted him to know that he can’t treat me the same way he treats others. He looked at me and instead of saying anything; walked past me and shut the door. Not that Andrew was doing anything new, but to me it was new because that was the first time he was dishing out similar treatment to me.

Things have since gone worse since that day as Andrew now calls me names, and orders me around. I know a woman should be submissive to her husband, but the holy book preaches and encourages men to love their wives. It is difficult to accept that a woman should be submissive to a man who does nothing but disrespect her.

He calls me names, and uses derogatory words on me even in public gathering. How long do I have to keep enduring these things? I don’t usually go out with him anymore because it always ends in disaster. He always brags about his wealth; boasting of how he picks me from the gutter and turned my life around. He calls my family retched and treats us with disdain.

I am just fed up with the whole thing, and I don’t know what to do. Please advice me.
