So the best way to make yourself happy is to make your friend happy to.
We have already defined signs of an abusive relationship in our previous series under this category. Today we want to find out if any of our friends is being emotionally and physically abused by their partners. Below are some of the signs to know if one or some of your friends is being abused:
- Unexplained bruises and broken bones or dark spot on the face: When your friend keeps showing up with strange or unexplained bruises or dark spot on her face, then you know she might possibly a victim of abuse in her relationship.
- Excessive guilt: When your friend starts having this feeling of guilt or ashamed for no apparent reason.
- Starts staying away or withdrawing from friends: When your friend starts staying away from her loved ones.
- Staying away from school and other public places: When your friend starts avoiding or giving flimsy excuses to stay away from public gathering like schools and other places.
Maybe your friend is afraid or so ashamed to open up on what she is going through. The truth about abused ladies is that they always want to be friends with people who will understand their situation and offer the right advice without making mockery of their condition. She is afraid of being pressured into walking out of the relationship; and that is why she doesn’t want to open up to her parents. Victims of abuse always feel it’s their fault, and that they don’t deserve any better than they are getting already. You can help your friend by making her realise it is not her fault that she is undergoing such pains. Make her understand that she is not a bad person, and that the person abusing her is the one who has a serious problem.
You have a responsibility to guide and lead your friend out of the situation she has found herself—play a key role and you would have helped in restoring the happiness of a loved one.
