This actually happened to me, Back in the university days, I had a little sister who happened to be an artist. She sings and all that, I was there for her, for the moment, as I got busier as they say I had less time for her.
That wasn’t a big deal at first, I thought she’d understand. She’d complain and accuse me, I’d laugh it off and joke with her, I was her Big brother and probably the only family she had on campus but I was too busy for her. Little did I was setting myself up for failure as a brother and losing an opportunity, a big one at that.
I went back to my hostel a few days back and I saw her, as usual she complained, whined about how I forgot her birthday, I was sorry terribly sorry. But as usual made a joke out of it. Then as we were going through her stuffs together, i saw three copies of a book, with a nice design. It looked nice, I was just thinking of getting a design like that for my two books ready for publishing by December,
Just then I saw the name of the author, I couldn’t believe it. My little sister is now an author; I asked her how it all happened. I got to k now her uncle is a publisher, I’ve been on the lookout for a honest publisher all this while, I never knew one was waiting right under my nose because I wasn’t paying attention to my little sister. Thank God I found out soon enough.
People are our greatest asset, no matter what you do; you can’t get it right without people. A leader without followers is just taking a stroll, endeavour to appreciate people around you sincerely, value them. People are one the most accessible resources around you, I am not asking you to start using people, Not just Value them, Add value to them and they will do so to you.
Value Your Staff, Your team. The person very next to you may not be the best brain around but he could be the key to solving a problem you’ve been battling with all along. Learn to Observe and develop interest in people, it’s a very rewarding investment.
Right Some people might pose a problem for you, Cheat and betray you but that’s not enough to judge us all. Learn to connect people and Love them sincerely.
Together let’s start appreciating Everyone around us and value them, A man of many people has abundant resources around him.
