Man was born with an ego… it’s just part of his genetic make-up. I’m sorry to say.
To submit means to accept the will of another person or a superior force. Wow, that totally negates the egotistical nature of man, except something more than meets the eye is at stake.
Contrary to widespread belief that those that obey are weak and it is for that reason that they jitter and submit for lack of strength, actually it’s the exact opposite.
A lot of times when you rebel you disobey, it simply mirrors the degree of your weakness and lack of maturity thereof, and you call it strength… Strength? Here’s what strength is, “subjecting power under control”. Having power, strength and with all of the arsenal to do something, but because you are under some form of authority, relinquish all that and become a follower, like a lamb being lead to the slaughter, even when you would have done better at the task.
The biggest battles we have to fight in life, if we check well, are more internal than external. And I’ll say the biggest battle you have to fight as an individual is “the battle against self!”
That man that has conquered himself needs to be watched carefully, because whatever he sets his sight at is already as good as game! Check out those who conquered the world and prevailed, they first died to self, that’s the first step. Look at men like Jesus Christ of Nazareth, if that’s too spiritual what about Nelson Mandela these men didn’t have a life of their own, they lived a life of servitude, they were humbled to death and prison alike, though they could have fought and won if they wanted to.
I’ll define obedience as simply surrendering ones will to someone else.
It takes the strongest of men to stoop low for someone else to take a ride on his back, because it simply means rubbishing ones ego, no matter the heights attained, but in doing this is great gain, because in letting oneself down, you are opportune to see all the filth that goes on underground, and when it’s time for you to take on the leadership position, you thrive at it.
In conclusion, real strength lies in the ability to submit!
