Did you know that 9-time Grammy Award Winner, and American pop singing sensation, Mary J Blige dropped out of school when she was just 16 years of age? Yea you read that right as the singer dropped out of school at that age, stopped going to church, and became addicted to drugs and sex.
“I ended up becoming my environment,” Blige said. “It was bigger than me. I had no self-respect. I hated myself. I thought I was ugly. Alcohol, sex, drugs—I’d do whatever it took to feel a little better.”
The 42-year old superstar’s father was a jazz musician who played the bass guitar, while her mum was a nurse by profession.
