If you are a leader and you are corrupt, you are not only being greedy, you are also destroying a nation you claim to ‘love’ so much.
Corrupt people are myopic in their reasoning. When a man seeks for political position in a country that is ravaged by poverty and badly in need of a patriot that can bail it out of its state; much is expected of him. The people look up to him with hope and renewed optimism that his tenure in office would bring back the sunshine. Wonder how our politicians feel after serving their term and want a second term, without fulfilling their electoral promises?
What those who steal or divert public funds do not know is that their past will always hunt them. It also shows the sorry state of their minds. No sane man would still that which collectively belongs to the people. No sane man would amass billions of Naira or Dollars to satisfy his own selfish desire to the detriment of a dying people.
The road project you fail to execute would one day lead to your end or cause havoc to the lives of those you love. Did you know that years of stealing and diverting public funds have led us to the situation we now find ourselves in Nigeria today? Salaries of workers can no longer be paid, workers are being asked to go home to their family members with empty pay packet.
Even the average fuel attendant in the filling station is so corrupt that he charges a minimum of 20 Naira from every one or two litre of petrol you buy from him. Of course, our politicians are responsible for institutionalising corruption. Parents now have to bribe their ways to get what is their right legitimately.
A corrupt politician or public office holder only shows the state of his heart; it is a sorry state that is badly in need of a critical surgical operation. No normal or sane man would steal millions or billions of public funds and starch it away in a private account. That person is only helping the undertaker to dig his grave; his future is filled with uncertainty contrary to what he thinks. A heart that only thinks of how to corruptly enrich himself through public funds needs help—and quickly too before he destroys himself and those around him.
