Happiness comes to many of us from different angles. To some it could be from how fat or big their bank account balance is, while to others it could just be to find some to spend some time with. To others, it might just be to be healthy and have a sound mind. However, keeping a long lasting and happy relationship is what a lot of us crave for. Are you fed up with your relationship and feel like you don’t want anyone in your life again? Are you constantly saying no to anyone that comes your way because you fear a repeat of past events? Here are five golden rules for a happy and lasting relationship.

  • Never walk away from each other during argument: Now a lot of us do this, and this is not the way to a happy and long lasting relationship. Argument in relationship is inevitable, and when it comes, it is ideal to thrash it out instead of walking out on each other. Walking out on your partner does not only show a lack of respect for him/her, it is sometimes viewed as a mark of weakness on your part.
  • Never keep records of wrongdoings: This is one of the major causes of breakups. Like I said earlier, arguments are inevitable in a relationship; but it behoves you and your partner to deal with it and render apologies where and when necessary. Once an apology has been tendered and accepted, move on and never bring that matter up. Stop pointing your partner to the wrong he or she did the last time you had issues; it is a sure way to kill your happiness.
  • Always offer your partner a listening ear: The problem some people have is that they talk more and listen less; this is one of the biggest relationship killer. Give your partner a listening hear, hear him out when he is pouring out his heart. Stop interrupting your lover especially when he or she is in the midst of trying to explain how he or she feels about an emotional matter.
  • Value your time together: It is important to always value the good times and maybe the bad times too. Reminding each other of the good times you have shared together in the past can help you rekindle the fire in your love life.
  • Never gossip your partner: Let every conversation between you and your partner be kept private and not shared with third parties. When you have issues with your partner, avoid bringing in a third party into it or revealing the weaknesses of your partner.
