There is no society on earth where lying is a norm; but no one can deny the fact that some societies careless about these things. Some even do it under oath, and it doesn’t bother them that much—it doesn’t even bother them. Some of the common lies people tell, especially in a country like Nigeria include; lying about one’s age, lying about one’s real identity, misleading a lady or a man about the true status about one’s family background, and many more. However, our concern this time around is to find out why Nigerians tell lies about the true age.
Why do Nigerians like lying about their age? I mean, why is it so difficult for people to tell others their true age. A lot of job seekers do it every day; they tweak their CV just to reflect a particular age in order to get a particular job. Ladies in particular find it difficult to open up to their boyfriends about their true age.
So what’s the big deal about one’s age that he has to falsify it?
