Is It Wrong To Drink Alcohol As A Christian Or Muslim?

I may not be vast with the doctrines and dictates of the two major religious groups (Christianity and Islam); but I do know that a topic like alcohol generates a lot of arguments. Is it wrong to drink alcohol as a Christian or a Muslim? What’s your take on this? What does the Bible as well as the Quran really say about alcohol consumption?.

This question has been a major issue for as many years as Christianity has been around.  Many denominations forbid any consumption of alcohol at all and you can be disfellowshiped in some churches. Some churches have even divided over this issue.  It is a stumbling block for some believers while for others they see no problem at all with having a beer once in a while or a glass of wine at dinner.

I must sincerely admit that some people don’t see anything wrong in this, while a different set of people feel strongly about it. So what’s your view on this? Is it considered a sin to consume alcohol regardless of how little it is?

As a matter of fact, some have said they don’t see anything in it as long as you put things under control. In other words, is it safe to drink a bottle or bottles of beer as long as you have not lost your sense of reasoning?

Some religious leaders preach against it, while others don’t even want to talk about because they consider it a very controversial issue. So what is your take on this? Do you find it too controversial? Can you back your support for or against it with relevant proofs?
