It’s the start of a new year, which calls for some stocktaking. Who says you can’t live without some unserious minded people? Who says you can’t start all over again and rebuild your love life? Life is too short; don’t spend a part of it trying to wait for someone who isn’t showing any sign of taking you to the next stage. Let’s see five reasons why you need to cut loose that person this year and move on to something or someone more serious…
- Your colleagues and friends are already seeing things differently: The only constant thing in life is change. When your colleagues and friends start approaching issues of life from a different perspective, then it’s probably a sign that the “train has moved” and only the smart ones can catch up. Do not be caught napping—if he is not showing any sign of negotiating the next bend, then he is probably not on the same page with you.
- He wants you to rush your decision: As an African it is quite understandable if your parents want you to settle down; that’s normal because it’s a part of our lifestyle. However, it is also very crucial that you don’t allow yourself to be rushed by any man into taking a decision about moving to the next level of your relationship. It takes two to tangle; it is either both of you are ready to make the leap together or you are both not ready.
- If he is still coming up with excuses about money and the likes: Being ready for marriage also requires being financially stable. However, if your man keeps using this as excuse year after year; then it is probably time to cut him loose and walk the walk. He probably wants to own the whole world before walking you down to the altar.
- He still doesn’t want his friends and family to know you: This is one of the most crucial reasons to jump the boat and take to your heels. If a man has been dating you for years, and still doesn’t see any need to show you to his pals and parents, then it’s probably time to cut him loose—let him go his way while you do the same.
- If he fails to grow up: He keeps acting like a baby and still doesn’t want to grow up. If he still wants to keep hanging out with his friends and spend all his weekends in the club; then he is probably not going to pop the all important question anytime soon.
In all of this, do not just walk away without opening up on your reasons for walking away. Seat him down and have a heart to heart talk (it is probably not the first time you are doing this); but be bold in your statement and do not mince words. Let him also know you are not living him because someone is already waiting in the wings; make your points as crystal clear as you can…
