I don’t like some of the stories I read online about how ladies throw away their wedding rings and start messing about when they go for the mandatory National Youth Service programme.
Ann and I are not yet married, but we are not far off because everything is almost set; just waiting for her to complete her national program then we will be heading to the altar. However, I am beginning to have doubts if she is the one for me because of the way she acts these days. She has changed and no longer shows passion and interest in some of those things that used to bring us so much joy and happiness. Ann is no longer interested in going out, and spends most of her spear time chatting with some strange friends and groups on WhatsApp and BBM.
Her line is always busy whenever I call her these days. She keeps me waiting on the line for hours, which is quite unlike her. Am I being unnecessarily worried? We used to talk for hours on the phone during her university days, but all that seems to have changed since she was posted to Abuja for her service. The truth of the matter is that my girl doesn’t even want me to come to the state where she is carrying out her primary assignment to visit.
I have also observed that Ann no longer wears her engagement ring whenever she goes back to Abuja. I observed this from some of the pictures she has been taking over there. This is quite baffling because it gives me the impression that something is amiss.
Now it turns out that Ann has been in town for three days without telling me. She didn’t even tell me she was coming to Lagos. I only got to find out when I stopped over at their house to say hello to her mum. I was shocked to see her, and the mum too was embarrassed because I could detect it from her looks that she wasn’t happy with the way her daughter behaved. Ann’s excuse for not telling me was that she saw a free ride coming to Lagos and decided to come home to rest. She said she was sorry for not telling me, but insisted that she planned to visit me before going back to Abuja that week. The most annoying thing is that Ann and I have been chatting on the phone without knowing that my fiancée was already in town.
I am worried about this latest development and suspect that this relationship is going to hit the rock very soon. Her head has been turned by some guys in Abuja, and it’s looking like things won’t work between the two of us.
I feel used because I was practically responsible for her education right from her first year in the university. Could she be cheating on me? Is she going to drop the bombshell very soon? I am just confused at the moment and I don’t know what next to do. Please help…
