Nothing makes the society more vulnerable than when its people live in ignorance. Even the law has no place for ignorance as it is says it is not an “excuse to break the law.” The law frowns at it, the Holy Book also frowns at it; but the problem of the society is that the elite will always play on the intelligence of the masses.
Only few elites want the uneducated to be educated and enlightened. A society where the elites see educated masses as threats to their reign is one that will continue to leave in bondage brought about by darkness. There is a big danger when you live in a society where the people lack basic knowledge about certain things; such society is on a downward spiral.
Goldman couldn’t have said it in a better way than this: “The most violent element in society is ignorance.”
