Would You Stop Your Daughter From Marrying Someone She Loves Because Of Your Religious Principles?

Most of us are so indoctrinated and die-hard when it comes to holding on to what we believe and feel is right. We have a way of enforcing our principles and beliefs on others, even our children. Nonetheless, marriage or better still love is a life-long journey that requires partnering with the right person; one wrong choice and the process towards a fruitful and happy future could be compromised. As a father or mother would you prevent or stop your daughter from marrying someone she loves simply because you do not agree with her choice of a man?

What should come first in a relationship; a father’s religious beliefs or the happiness and comfort of the daughter? Should love be sacrificed on the altar of religion? Should a lady old enough to say “I do” not be matured enough to know she is making the right decision in marriage regardless of religious inclination? Is it right to tag a lady who keeps insisting on marrying someone she ‘loves’ regardless of religion a rebellious child? Can such marriage be in peace even if the lady decides to go ahead without her father’s consent?
